The embassy urged all U.S. citizens to exercise caution, follow local authorities’ instructions, and review the latest guidance issued by the embassy.
It also advised Americans to take precautionary measures, including enrolling in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive security updates, maintaining communication with family and friends, and ensuring travel documents are up to date.
Additional recommendations included identifying safe areas within residences, maintaining essential supplies such as food, water, and medications, avoiding protests and large gatherings, and staying informed through official channels.
The embassy stressed the importance of monitoring developments, adhering to official guidance, keeping mobile phones charged, and having emergency contact numbers readily available.
It noted that emergency services in Jordan can be reached by dialing 911. U.S. citizens may also contact the embassy via email or reach the U.S. Department of State’s contact center at +1-202-501-4444 from outside the United States, or +1-888-407-4747 from within the United States and Canada.
The embassy had previously announced the cancellation of all immigrant and non-immigrant visa appointments until further notice due to regional conditions, emphasizing that the safety of applicants remains a top priority and advising those with scheduled appointments not to visit the embassy building.
