"Statement by the Coordination Committee of Civil Society Organizations – Himam on the Measures Taken by the Israeli Occupation Against Participants in the Sumud Flotilla"
The Coordination Committee of Civil Society Organizations – Himam strongly condemns the repressive measures and violations committed by the Israeli occupation authorities against the male and female participants in the Sumud Flotilla, as well as against previous flotillas and civil and humanitarian initiatives aimed at breaking the illegal blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip, providing humanitarian support to the Palestinian people, and expressing solidarity with them in the face of the war of genocide, ethnic cleansing, and the policies of occupation and settler colonialism.اضافة اعلان

The targeting, detention, harassment, humiliation, and incitement directed against the activists by some ministers and officials of the occupation government once again reveal the nature of this occupation and its deep hostility toward any humanitarian or solidarity-based action that seeks to protect civilians and expose the crimes committed against them. It also confirms that the occupation state does not stop at targeting Palestinians, but also seeks to intimidate all free voices that stand for justice, human rights, and international law.

Himam believes that what the members of the Sumud Flotilla were subjected to, despite its severity and gravity, represents only a small fraction of what the Palestinian people have endured for many decades: occupation, blockade, displacement, repression, and the denial of basic rights. Palestinians, especially in the Gaza Strip, have for many years faced a systematic policy of collective punishment, which in recent years has reached unprecedented levels of destruction, starvation, forced displacement, and the targeting of civilians, infrastructure, and the basic conditions of life.

The Coordination Committee of Civil Society Organizations – Himam affirms that these violations are not isolated or passing events, but rather an extension of a colonial system that has existed for decades, based on the denial of the rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them their right to freedom, self-determination, return, and an end to the occupation. Himam also affirms that international solidarity with the Palestinian people is not a crime, but rather a moral, humanitarian, and legal duty in the face of injustice and grave violations.
Accordingly, Himam calls on the international community, the United Nations, and the States Parties to the Geneva Conventions to assume their legal, political, and moral responsibilities, and to take serious and concrete measures to immediately stop the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, end the blockade imposed on the Strip, ensure the unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid, protect Palestinians, international solidarity activists, and humanitarian workers, hold the occupation state and its officials accountable for grave violations of international law and international humanitarian law, and work seriously to end the occupation rather than merely issuing statements of condemnation or temporary reactions.
Himam stresses that criticism of the Israeli occupation must not turn into a passing wave linked to a specific incident and then fade away. Rather, it must develop into a firm and effective international position that puts an end to the policy of impunity and restores respect for the principles of justice, human rights, and the right of peoples to freedom and dignity.

The Coordination Committee of Civil Society Organizations – Himam salutes the male and female participants in the Sumud Flotilla, as well as all popular and humanitarian movements around the world that continue to defend the rights of the Palestinian people. Himam affirms that global civil solidarity constitutes one of the most important forms of resisting injustice and exposing the crimes of the occupation before international public opinion.
