His Royal Highness Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Football Association, said in an interview with CNN that Jordan possesses an outstanding national team that has gone through many stages over the past twenty years to reach this moment.
Prince Ali noted that Jordan launched a youth development program more than two decades ago and that many national team players began their careers in the country’s youth academies.
He explained that qualifying for the AFC Asian Cup was once a major challenge, whereas the national team has now become a regular participant in the tournament.
The JFA president said the national team aims to perform at its highest level and expressed optimism that the players would strive to do so, highlighting the squad’s strong spirit and dynamic character.
Prince Ali added that Jordan will play in the FIFA World Cup for the enjoyment of the game, emphasizing that the players will give their utmost effort. He also noted that the team has tremendous potential despite injuries affecting some players.
Speaking about Jordanian star Mousa Al-Taamari, Prince Ali said that Al-Taamari is one of the players who progressed through the youth academy system before successfully advancing through clubs in Cyprus and Belgium and eventually reaching France. He expressed hope that more Jordanian players would have similar opportunities for development.
Prince Ali concluded by discussing the national team’s jersey design, describing it as simple yet impressive. He explained that the colors inspired by the traditional Jordanian keffiyeh reflect the way Jordanian supporters drape the keffiyeh over their shoulders while cheering for the national team from the stands.
