Penalty doubled for use of mobile while driving

AMMAN — A draft amended to the Traffic Law for 2023 has doubled the fine for violating the use of a mobile phone by a driver while driving to JD 30. اضافة اعلان

Article 36 of the 2008 Traffic Law has been amended in the draft published on the Legislation and Opinion Bureau’s website, to add the clause “the use of a mobile phone by a driver while the vehicle is in motion, if the phone is hand-held,” with a fine of JD 30 for the violation. The clause was previously present in Article 38 with a fine previously of JD 15.

Meanwhile, another draft has been amended for not wearing seat belts for front-seat passengers in vehicle with a fine of JD 20 after amending Article 37 of the original law, which added to the clause “failure to use seat belts for front-seat passengers in the vehicle contrary to regulations and instructions.”
