According to a ministry statement on Monday, the project aligns with national efforts to enhance sustainability and improve road safety. High-efficiency solar-powered LED lighting units will be supplied and installed to cover the entire corridor, with particular focus on intersections, entrances, exits, and sections requiring precise visibility standards based on approved technical specifications.

The new lighting system will use smart lighting technologies that allow full automated control of on/off operations, adjustment of light intensity according to traffic density and nighttime hours, and a remote monitoring system for poles and batteries to ensure rapid fault detection and reduced maintenance response time.

The system is independent of the traditional electricity grid, ensuring uninterrupted lighting even during power outages or cable damage, and includes sufficient storage capacity to maintain efficient operation under cloudy conditions.

This project represents a strategic step toward improving the infrastructure of vital roads while supporting the ministry’s digital and environmental transformation initiatives.
