The opening of the regular session will have limited attendance and will require that attendees wear masks and adhere to social distancing rules.

The government on Sunday referred its Constitution draft amendments and the elections and political parties bills to Parliament, Minister of State for Media Affairs and government spokesperson Faisal Shboul announced.

The bills are those put forward by the Royal Committee to Modernize the Political System, alongside the government’s proposed amendments to the Constitution, the spokesperson told the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Shboul noted that the proposed new legislation marks the beginning of a “new” phase of modernization in Jordan’s political system; one that will bring with it a fundamental change in the electoral system centered on political parties.

The minister also announced the government is currently preparing programs to develop government administration as part of the administrative reform plan, in parallel with economic reform measures and plans to attract investment.
