His Majesty King Abdullah II chaired a meeting today, Wednesday, at Al-Husseiniya Palace with officials and representatives of the industrial sector to follow up on the performance of the pharmaceutical, chemical, and food industries.اضافة اعلان

In the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, His Majesty emphasized the importance of solidifying Jordan’s position as a regional industrial hub, enabling the sector to grow, enhancing the competitiveness of Jordanian products in both local and international markets, and opening new markets.

His Majesty, joined by Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan, noted that the pharmaceutical, chemical, and food industries are moving in the right direction, highlighting the need to boost the efficiency of production processes, particularly by focusing on the manufacturing of production inputs.

The King listened to briefings on the procedures and plans of the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply and the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) to raise the competitiveness of national industries. The meeting also included a presentation on the industrial sector's current status by the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry.

Industrial Performance Indicators (2025):
Chemical Industries: Exports reached approximately 2.1 billion JOD, reaching 63 markets.

Food Industries: Export value reached about 912 million JOD, reaching 114 markets.

Pharmaceutical Industries: Export value reached 650.2 million JOD, reaching 38 markets.

Representatives of the private sector discussed success stories of leading companies and addressed rapid production capabilities and flexible response mechanisms, contributing to food and drug security and supporting sustainable economic growth.

Economic Impact:
In 2025, the industrial sector contributed approximately 24.3% of the GDP and has provided over 262,000 jobs in the manufacturing sector in recent years. National industrial exports reached 9.6 billion JOD last year, accounting for about 92% of total national exports.

The meeting was attended by the Director of His Majesty's Office, Eng. Alaa Batayneh, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Eng. Yarub Qudah, Minister of Agriculture Dr. Saeb Khraisat, Director General of the JFDA Dr. Rana Obeidat, Chairman of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry Eng. Fathi Al-Jaghbir, and various sector representatives.
