The forum aims to strengthen economic partnerships, expand cooperation, and open new markets between the two countries. It is organized by the Jordan Chamber of Commerce and includes representatives from over 20 leading Indian companies as well as national companies operating in key sectors.

In his speech at the opening, attended by Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the King emphasized Jordan’s commitment to expanding economic and investment cooperation with India across various sectors and increasing trade exchange. He expressed hope that the forum would advance the economic partnership between the two countries to new horizons, highlighting India’s remarkable economic growth.

The King also outlined Jordan’s competitive advantages in key sectors such as food, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, information and communication technology, energy, mining, tourism, advanced industries, and logistics services. He stressed the importance of leveraging Jordan’s strategic location and advanced logistics capabilities to establish integrated logistics and manufacturing centers. He noted that integrating Jordan’s transport network with the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor (IMEC) presents an important opportunity to enhance collaboration in this area.

Prime Minister Modi highlighted India’s interest in developing economic cooperation with Jordan, particularly in sectors such as digital infrastructure and communications, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, and agriculture. He noted that under the leadership of King Abdullah II, Jordan has become a bridge connecting many countries, emphasizing the need to capitalize on this advantage to expand trade opportunities. He added that historically, trade from India to Europe passed through Petra, underscoring the importance of restoring these routes for future commercial growth.

During the forum, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Jordan Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry to strengthen economic relations, facilitate trade, encourage investment, coordinate sectors, and promote knowledge and expertise exchange.

The opening session was attended by His Majesty’s Chief of Staff, Engineer Alaa Batayneh; Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Engineer Yareb Al-Qudah; the Chief of Protocol accompanying the Indian Prime Minister; India’s Ambassador to Jordan, Manish Chohan; and representatives from the chambers of commerce and private sector from both countries.
