AMMAN — The Jordanian Cabinet has approved a comprehensive package of regulations aimed at streamlining transportation services and vehicle registration. Simplified Licensing and Fee Reductions
Government Spokesperson Mohammad Al-Momani clarified that the new procedures will allow vehicle licenses to be renewed starting from the actual date of technical inspection, rather than the expiration date listed on the license. This change takes effect from the moment the owner visits the Licensing Department.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved a reduction in the fees for retaining distinctive license plate numbers, aligning them more closely with their current market value.

Energy Sector: Strategic Updates and Green Hydrogen
In a significant move for the energy sector, the Cabinet endorsed the Updated National Energy Strategy (2026–2030). The strategy focuses on:

Enhancing national energy security and self-reliance.

Increasing the contribution of local energy sources.

Expanding renewable energy projects and improving grid efficiency.

Furthermore, the government renewed the exemption for fuel marketing companies from the unified fee on petroleum products until the end of the year.

$1 Billion Green Ammonia Project in Aqaba
On the investment front, the Cabinet approved a landmark agreement for a Green Ammonia and Green Hydrogen production project. With an estimated investment value of $1 billion, the project aims to:

Establish Aqaba as a regional hub for clean energy.

Support Jordan’s transition toward a low-carbon economy.

Attract large-scale foreign direct investment in sustainable technologies.
