The ministry's spokesman Sinan Majali said Israel's military escalation campaign threatens to cause the eruption of a new wave of violence, from which everyone will suffer.

"Violence only generates more violence," he said, noting that such acts lead to dangerous escalations that threaten safety and security and extinguish any hopes for a just peace.

He urged the halt of Israel's military operations and illegal measures that undermine the two-state solution and prospects for peace.

Majali also stressed that negotiations should be resumed in order to achieve a just peace that ends the occupation and establishes an independent Palestinian state on June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
