Jordan called on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and to compel Israel to halt its unlawful expansionist measures in the occupied West Bank, as well as to fulfill the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on their national soil.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the Israeli government’s approval of plans to establish 34 new settlements in the occupied West Bank, describing it as a blatant violation of international law and a serious undermining of the two-state solution and the Palestinian people’s right to realize an independent and sovereign state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The ministry’s official spokesperson, Ambassador Sufyan Qudah, reiterated in a press statement Jordan’s absolute rejection and strong condemnation of any Israeli attempts to impose control over the occupied West Bank, in violation of international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334, which condemns all Israeli measures aimed at altering the demographic composition and status of the occupied Palestinian territory since 1967, including East Jerusalem.

He also referred to the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, which affirmed the illegality of settlement construction and the annexation of parts of the West Bank.

Qudah reiterated that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territory and that all Israeli actions in the West Bank are illegal and invalid.

He again called on the international community to fulfill its legal and moral obligations, to compel Israel to halt its unlawful expansionist policies in the occupied West Bank, and to ensure the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state.
