The strategy includes implementing 212 projects and initiatives to achieve 15 strategic aims and 30 strategic goals with a total value of JD918 million between 2022 and 2026.

It includes establishing new parks and gardens, rehabilitating and developing already existing parks at a value of JD44 million, expanding the Amman Bus routes to include 286 buses.

The strategy also includes the first and second phases of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, which includes traffic improvements for intersections, traffic solutions, and a biomechanical waste treatment project that will recycle waste and produce energy and fertilizer.

It estimated the cost of financing the second phase of the BRT project at JD281 million for the years 2022 to 2026.

In its document, GAM said that the first and second phases of the BRT project include implementing designs for vital intersections that were studied in phase two as well as other intersection improvements.

The World Bank said that it is working with GAM to finance and implement the second phase of the BRT project in Amman, according to the practice manager for the MENA Transport Unit, Ibrahim Al-Dajani.

Dajani added that “the bank is proud to participate in many projects in Jordan, the most important of which is the BRT project with the Ministry of Transport and the GAM,” explaining that “the length of the second phase is up to 50km.”
