President of the Jordanian Senate, Faisal Al-Fayez, along with members of the Senate's Arab and International Affairs Committee, met with a British parliamentary delegation to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and review developments in the region.

During the meeting, chaired by Senator Ali Al-Ayed, Al-Fayez emphasized the deep-rooted ties between Jordan and the United Kingdom, built on mutual respect and the shared interests of both nations and peoples. He expressed appreciation for the UK’s continued support for Jordan’s economic development programs, which help the country cope with the consequences of regional crises.
Al-Fayez highlighted Jordan’s efforts, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to facilitate the entry of urgent humanitarian aid into Gaza and to enable UN relief agencies, including UNRWA, to operate and alleviate the humanitarian catastrophe. He called for international parliamentary action to stop the Israeli aggression on Gaza and to allow unimpeded delivery of humanitarian and medical aid.
He reaffirmed Jordan’s steadfast positions on regional issues, particularly its unwavering support for a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause, based on international legitimacy and the two-state solution. He rejected any solutions that undermine Jordan’s national interests or its Hashemite custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
Al-Fayez stressed that the ongoing political and security crises in the Middle East are largely rooted in Israel’s aggressive and expansionist policies, particularly its attacks on the Palestinian people in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, which constitute crimes against humanity, including policies of starvation, massacres, and war crimes. He warned that Israel’s continued extremism and expansionism poses a threat to regional and global stability.
Senator Al-Ayed echoed the importance of expanding cooperation and building on the historic ties between the two countries, as well as enhancing joint parliamentary work and coordination on matters of mutual concern in international parliamentary forums.
For his part, Lord Martin Callanan, head of the British delegation, emphasized the historic and strategic partnership between the two kingdoms and the UK’s keenness to strengthen it. He also praised Jordan’s diplomatic efforts, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, in laying the foundations for sustainable regional stability.
