FDA shuts down two sports centers for keeping unlicensed athletes’ food

AMMAN— The control and inspection teams of the Food and Drug Administration, in cooperation with the relevant security services, raided two sports centers in Amman, and seized a quantity of unlicensed athletes' food, according to Al-Mamlaka TV.اضافة اعلان

 

The FDA’s Director-General Nizar Mhaidat said in a press release on Friday that the control and inspection teams closed two sports centers and seized a quantity of food products bearing medical claims for body-building, in addition to athletes’ food that did not obtain a license by the administration.

 

Mhaidat added that FDA has started to take the duly necessary measures in against those in charge of the two centers, noting that the specialized control and inspection teams carry out regular inspection tours to ensure the circulation of nutritional supplements and approved and safe athletes' food.

 

The specialized technical committees in FDA in the Special Use Food and Athletes Food Department are working to approve and license athletes food products after examining their components and the prescribed daily dose and checking the statement card that includes the method of use, allegations and the most important warnings, in accordance with the approved bases for its approval, classification and registration, as well as follow-up and control of its use in the market, manufacturing and importing to ensure the safety of these foods and to maintain the health and safety of the groups used for them.
