The minister said this projected effort would enhance the contribution of local energy sources to generate power and the overall energy mix.

Touring the Monitoring and Control Center of the National Electric Power Company (NEPC) on Saturday, Kharabsheh affirmed the need to coordinate the company’s efforts with the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) and Jordan’s generation and distribution companies to ensure the sustainability of the electric grid and prepare to address any emergency glitches.

The minister said the world is witnessing a technological revolution in the energy field, especially the renewable energy sector, which should be taken advantage of to upgrade Jordan’s electric network and better utilize local energy sources.

These steps would raise the contribution to electricity generation and the total energy mix to improve performance and reduce operational costs, according to Kharabsheh.

The minister also stressed the importance of the Arab electric connection and efforts to increase its capacity to enhance the electric system’s stability.
In turn, NEPC’s head, Amjad Rawashdeh, said the company has operational strategies and plans to meet electricity demand locally to ensure continued supply to all consumers in the Kingdom’s various areas.

The company, he said, has operational procedures to ensure grid sustainability and avoid any extended outages affecting Jordan’s electric system.
