The Committee of Greater Amman Municipality held its ninth extraordinary session on Sunday, chaired by Dr. Yousef Al-Shwarbah, during which it approved the items on the agenda.

The committee ratified the draft loan agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to finance the capping of the fifth cell at Al-Ghabawi landfill and its connection to the biogas system.
During the session, the committee also approved the draft memorandum of understanding with the Private Applied Science University / Faculty of Arts and Design, aiming to foster cooperation between the municipality and the university in implementing design and creative projects that highlight Amman’s cultural identity. The agreement includes involving students and faculty members in cultural initiatives launched by the municipality, organizing lectures, workshops, and art and cultural seminars to develop local community awareness, and linking educational outputs to the city’s cultural and artistic needs.
Additionally, the committee approved the donation of 250 environmental violation cameras to the Ministry of Local Administration, and 20 cameras to the Central Traffic Department, as part of the 2026–2027 cleanliness strategy and efforts to reduce random waste dumping.
The committee also endorsed the principles for applying green building standards and the incentives provided by the municipality, aiming to encourage foreign investment and support investors through the adoption of global standards for green buildings and renewable energy projects, as well as defining requirements for the installation of solar panels.
