18 defendents to stand trial in ‘sedition case’

AMMAN (JNews) —The competent authorities will prosecute 18 people accused of attempting to destabilize the Kingdom in the ‘sedition’ case. اضافة اعلان

The investigations with the accused have concluded, according to a source at the military prosecution general at the State Security Court, who added that the case will be referred to the court after the completion of the final stages of the investigation and the necessary legal actions, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Wednesday. 

On Tuesday the general prosecution completed its investigations related to the recent events involved in the ‘sedition’ case, announced the public prosecutor at the State Security Court, Brig. Gen. Military Judge Hazem Al-Majali, adding that the results of the investigation have revealed that the actions of those involved “would have posed a clear threat to the security and stability of the Kingdom”. 

On April 3 following an extensive security operation into activities described as threatening to the security and stability of the country, between 14 and 16 people were arrested, including Bassem Awadallah, a former senior official and Sharif Hassan bin Zaid, announced Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi at a press conference on April 4.
