Paris Saint-Germain, the reigning UEFA Champions League winners, announced on Sunday that they had signed French international defender Lucas Digne from English club Aston Villa on a three-year contract running until the summer of 2029.

The Parisian club said in a statement: “Paris Saint-Germain are delighted to announce the return of Lucas Digne. The French international defender has signed a contract with the club until 2029 and will wear the number 12 shirt.”
The 33-year-old Digne returns to Paris Saint-Germain 11 years after leaving the club. He previously represented PSG between 2013 and 2015, following the start of his professional career with Lille.
During his two seasons with PSG, Digne made 44 appearances, providing five assists.
He helped the club win two French league titles, the Coupe de France, two Coupe de la Ligue titles, and three Trophée des Champions.
In the 2015/16 season, the French full-back joined Italian side Roma on loan before moving to Spanish giants Barcelona the following season.
He made 46 appearances for Barcelona, scoring twice and providing three assists, while winning two La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies, and the Spanish Super Cup.
After two seasons with Barcelona, Digne moved to English club Everton, where he established himself as one of the Premier League’s leading left-backs.
He made 127 appearances for the club, scoring six goals and providing 20 assists.
In January 2022, Digne joined Aston Villa and eventually became one of the club’s leaders. He made 182 appearances for Villa, scoring four goals and providing 24 assists, while helping the club win the 2026 Europa League.
At international level, Digne has made 64 appearances for France.
He won the FIFA U-20 World Cup and the UEFA Nations League in 2021.
He also featured at the 2014 and 2026 World Cups, starting six matches at the 2026 tournament and helping France reach the semifinals.
