Information obtained by Al-Ghad indicates that the Palestinian club’s management has held serious talks with Abu Keshk in recent weeks, seeking to benefit from his coaching experience and his ability to lead the team through the next stage. The Jordanian coach has welcomed the possibility of returning to the technical helm of Shabab Al-Obeidiya, given his relationship with the club and the successful spell he previously enjoyed there.
According to the information, the two parties have reached a preliminary agreement for Abu Keshk to take over the coaching role, pending the resolution of some outstanding financial details. Further discussions are expected in the coming days before the matter is finalized and the team’s new head coach is officially announced.
The next move now rests with the Palestinian club’s management, as Abu Keshk has submitted his demands. The club is expected to respond to his proposals before he formally begins his duties, with both sides seeking to conclude negotiations and reach a mutually acceptable agreement that would allow preparations to begin.
A potential return to Shabab Al-Obeidiya would be particularly significant given the pair’s previous successful partnership, which produced strong results and achievements. Abu Keshk led the team to promotion to the Palestinian Professional League, marking one of the standout milestones of his coaching career.
Abu Keshk took charge of Shabab Al-Obeidiya during the 2022 season, when the club competed in the Palestinian First Division, known as the Partial Professional League. He guided the team to promotion to the Professional League after an impressive campaign in which it delivered notable performances, reflecting the work of the coaching staff and players throughout the season.
He also achieved an outstanding record during that spell, finishing the campaign unbeaten across 22 matches. The run highlighted the team’s technical stability under his leadership and its ability to compete against different opponents while maintaining a consistent run of positive results until promotion was secured.
His success extended beyond winning promotion. The club’s management subsequently renewed his contract in recognition of his work and results, allowing him to continue leading the team in the Professional League. He oversaw the side during the first three rounds before circumstances and events in the country prevented him from continuing, bringing that spell to an end.
This previous experience gives Abu Keshk a degree of familiarity and an advantage in the current negotiations, as he already understands the club’s environment and working methods. His successful record with the team could also make a return easier if a final agreement is reached, offering an opportunity to continue the previous project and build on its achievements.
Abu Keshk has emerged as a prominent Jordanian coach in recent years, gaining valuable experience through several coaching roles at local clubs.
These include Al-Faisaly, where he worked as assistant coach to Ahmad Hayel during more than one spell and contributed to the team’s strong performances.
He also took charge of Al-Faisaly in several matches last season, with the team producing notable performances under his leadership. The experience strengthened his standing in Jordanian coaching and demonstrated his ability to meet the technical demands of working at major clubs.
Abu Keshk’s coaching career is underpinned by an extensive football background gained over many years as a player in Jordan and abroad. He is among the names that have left their mark on Jordanian football, having represented several clubs and delivered strong performances at different stages of his career.
He made a notable impact with Al-Faisaly and also played for Al-Baqa’a, Shabab Al-Ordon and Al-Jazeera. His overseas playing experience included Omani club Fanja and Kuwait’s Al-Nasr, before his career extended to Palestinian football, where he represented Jabal Al-Mukaber, Shabab Al-Khader and Silwan.
