Iraqi sports photographer Ali Mohammad Mahdi holds an extensive archive of sports photos related to the national football team, taken during its participation in numerous continental and international tournaments.

Throughout his sports photography career, Mahdi has succeeded in capturing numerous photos of the Nashama national team and its players, including the Nashama's match against its Iraqi counterpart in Basra, during the match that helped lift the ban on Iraqi stadiums.
Iraqi sports photographer Ali Mohammad Mahdi began his general photography career in 2012, before specializing in sports photography and covering football matches.
His work focused on documenting the Iraqi national team's activity, alongside other national teams, such as the Nashama, which received a large number of photos in the Iraqi photographer's archive.
Mahdi noted, in remarks to Al Ghad, that since 2015 he has continued documenting the national team's matches, and took part in covering continental and international tournaments and competitions, including the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the Asian Cup (2019 and 2023), the Arab Cup (2021 and 2025), World Cup qualifiers, alongside various domestic and Asian tournaments and matches.

He explained: "My field career has included covering matches and away participations for the Iraqi national team, in Jordan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. My archive includes a photographic collection documenting multiple chapters of Iraqi football's journey."
He said: "Among the most notable moments my lens has documented in Jordan is the match between the Iraqi national team and its counterpart, the Nashama, as part of supporting efforts to lift the ban on Iraqi stadiums, before the return of hosting official and international matches to Basra, with that phase forming part of the documentary sequence of stadium events."
On the professional side, a number of Iraqi and Arab media outlets have covered, in previous reports and interviews, the nature of his work and his experience documenting the Iraqi national team's matches and the sports scene, over a career spanning more than a decade.
The Iraqi photographer closed by expressing his pride in holding a distinguished archive of the Nashama, which has shone remarkably in recent years, particularly at the Asian Cup and the Arab Cup, before its historic qualification for the World Cup.
