The fourth edition of the Youth Olympic Games was originally scheduled for 2022 but was postponed to 2026 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games are expected to bring together around 2,700 male and female athletes from around the world, competing in 25 sports. The event will be the first Olympic event hosted by the African continent.
