Amman — Jordan national team and Al-Hussein Irbid player Adham Al-Quraishi has begun regaining his fitness and match readiness after featuring for his club in a friendly match the day before yesterday, a step that boosts his chances of returning to the national team’s plans following his recent absence due to injury.

Al-Quraishi played in the friendly between Al-Hussein and the club’s reserve team and successfully scored from a penalty, in a positive sign that he is nearing a full return to regular action after spending a period on the sidelines with injury.
Al-Quraishi’s return comes as the national team continues to monitor the condition of several injured players, including Yazan Al-Naimat, Issam Samiri and Ibrahim Sabra, as they work toward completing their recovery and returning to competition after missing the 2026 World Cup.
Al-Quraishi was among the players relied upon by the previous national team coaching staff under Jamal Sellami. His return gives new head coach Badu Al-Zaki additional options, particularly with upcoming commitments approaching, most notably the 2027 AFC Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia, and the need for as many fit players as possible.
The player’s appearance in the friendly carries added significance as it came after a lengthy absence and allows him to gradually regain match sharpness before returning to official competition and strengthening Al-Hussein’s squad as the club seeks to retain the Jordan Professional League title for a fourth consecutive season.
Meanwhile, monitoring of the other injured players continues, with medical examinations and rehabilitation programs expected to determine their respective return dates, particularly as the national team looks to have a full squad available in the coming period.
Jordan Football Association Vice President Marwan Juma told media outlets at the association’s headquarters the day before yesterday that Al-Naimat is close to returning to training, either this week or next, by joining his club for group training, before subsequently rejoining the Chivalrous in upcoming national team camps.
Al-Quraishi therefore appears to be the first of the injured national team absentees to take concrete steps toward returning to action, while Samiri, Al-Naimat and Sabra remain on the waiting list as they work to overcome their injuries and regain the fitness required to return to the national team.
Al-Quraishi suffered his injury in the Arab Cup final against Morocco. Medical examinations at the time revealed a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), keeping him out of action from the end of last year until the day before yesterday, when he made his first genuine return to the pitch.
Speaking to Al-Ghad, Al-Quraishi expressed his happiness at returning to action, hoping to make a positive contribution to Al-Hussein, which continued to believe in his abilities and renewed his contract before he had fully recovered.
He noted that returning to official competition will not be easy given the strong
competition for every position within the team, while expressing confidence that Al-Hussein will regain its form after the current break under its new coach.
“Of course, I aspire to return to the national team and take part in the Asian Cup finals after missing the previous edition,” he said. “The Chivalrous are capable of continuing their impressive results and achievements in the coming period, and my goal is to serve whichever team I play for.”
The 31-year-old Al-Quraishi has been a key member of the national team in recent periods, making 11 appearances, all last year, including nine starts and two substitute appearances, in World Cup qualifiers, the Arab Cup and friendly matches.
