The Élysée Palace stated that French President Emmanuel Macron did not hear the sound of the two explosions that occurred in the Syrian capital, Damascus, on Tuesday morning while he was on his way to meet Sharaa.

The French presidency confirmed Macron's safety and the continuation of his visit to Syria following the Damascus explosions.
Sharaa had received his French counterpart at the Palace of the People in Damascus, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
The talks between the two sides cover prospects for bilateral cooperation across various fields, alongside regional and international developments.
Macron and his accompanying delegation had arrived in Damascus on Monday for an official visit to Syria. The delegation accompanying Macron includes investors and representatives from French companies to boost economic cooperation.
This is the first visit by a French president since 2009, reflecting the strengthening of Syrian-French relations based on mutual respect and equal partnership.
Two explosions went off on Tuesday near a luxury hotel where Macron spent the night after his arrival in Damascus, according to a security source.
The security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said: "Two explosions occurred in central Damascus near the Four Seasons Hotel, one inside a trash container and the other in a car," likely caused by improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
