The Yemeni armed forces said on Tuesday that their forces carried out airstrikes targeting Houthi positions, gatherings and weapons in the areas of Mokha and Al-Wazi’iyah, west of Taiz.

The armed forces also said they had recaptured positions previously held by the Houthis following heavy clashes in southern and western Taiz province.
In a statement, the forces added that they had carried out three airstrikes targeting Houthi positions and fortifications on the Al-Ahkoum front in southern Taiz.
Military sources from both the Yemeni government forces and the Houthis said at least 154 people were killed in fighting over the past two days in Yemen.
Houthi-affiliated military sources told Agence France-Presse that “the death toll from airstrikes, clashes and artillery shelling in the provinces of Taiz, Al-Jawf, Marib and Saada reached 118,” most of them in Taiz. Government military sources, meanwhile, reported that “36 military personnel were killed during two days of intense fighting,” most of them on fronts in southern and western Taiz.
The advances came after the highlands and plateaus of Taiz witnessed heavy fighting in recent hours, including direct clashes between Yemeni forces and Houthi fighters.
The developments followed a statement by a Yemeni military source on Sunday that government forces had regained control of key mountainous positions from the Houthis in Taiz, in southwestern Yemen.
The source told the German News Agency (dpa) that “heavy fighting broke out between the armed forces and the Houthi militia at Mount Naaman and other positions west of Taiz.”
The source added that government forces had regained control of the strategic Mount Naaman in Jabal Habashi District, along with several positions on the Al-Kadaha front in Al-Ma’afer District, west of Taiz province.
