BRUSSELS — Knack Magazine, a Belgian Dutch-language weekly news magazine has selected Al-Jazeera correspondent in Gaza Wael Al-Dahdouh, the journalist of the year for 2023. Under the headline 'Journalists Targeted in Gaza,' the magazine characterizes Dahdouh as “the man who transitioned from news bearer to the news” after his family was targeted and killed on October 25. 14 of Dahdouh’s family members, including his son, daughter, wife, and other relatives, were tragically lost in an Israeli airstrike that struck the house where they sought refuge in the Nuseirat refugee camp, Al-Ghad reported.

Despite the tragedy, Dahdouh did not halt his news coverage, persistently reporting daily on Israel’s war on Gaza and the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation in the region, bringing the harsh realities to the world.
