Three Saudi citizens were killed and others of different nationalities were injured in two attacks targeting King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on Thursday, according to the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation.
The authority said the first attack targeted airport facilities, while the second struck a Saudi Airlines aircraft. It added that airport operations had resumed and air traffic had returned to normal.
Saudi Airlines separately announced that one of its employees was killed in the incident and that one of its aircraft was damaged while on the airport tarmac. The airline confirmed that there were no passengers on board at the time of the incident.
The airline added that its flights and operations at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh resumed at 6 p.m. Thursday.
