Aoun: Ceasefire is a Prerequisite for Negotiations; What We Are Doing is Not Treason
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated that his goal is to end the state of war with Israel, similar to the Armistice Agreement, questioning: "Was that agreement a humiliation?"اضافة اعلان

He added that some claim the decision to negotiate was made without national consensus, asking in return: "Did those who went to war do so with national consensus?"

Aoun pointed out that some claim the move toward negotiations stems from a position of surrender, asserting: "Wait for the negotiations to begin and then judge the result."

He clarified that Washington was informed from the very first moment that a ceasefire is a necessary first step for any subsequent negotiations.

He concluded by stating that what is being done is not treason, considering that treason is committed by those who lead their country into war to serve foreign interests.
