Al-Marafi wins silver and Al-Zreiqat bronze at World Masters Wrestling Championships

Jordanian national wrestling team athletes Hani Al-Marafi and Saleh Al-Zreiqat won silver and bronze medals, respectively, on Tuesday at the World Masters and Veterans Wrestling Championships, being held in Amman at Princess Sumaya Hall in Al Hussein Youth City. Al-Marafi won the silver medal in the Greco-Roman 130kg category. He began his campaign with an 8-0 quarterfinal victory over Germany’s Christian Lombardi before defeating Russia’s Bliev 9-0 in the semifinal to reach the final. He lost the final 0-4 to Iran’s Lashkari, earning the silver medal.

Al-Zreiqat, meanwhile, secured the bronze medal in the Greco-Roman 130kg category. He defeated Iraq’s Jasim Mohammed 5-0 in the second round before losing 3-6 to American wrestler Porter in the third round.

In the semifinal, Al-Zreiqat lost 0-9 to Russia’s Bagavdinov, earning the bronze medal.

The championship features more than 500 wrestlers representing 50 countries from around the world, competing across the approved weight categories and divisions. The tournament is aimed at masters and veterans aged between 35 and 60.
