Spotify Launches Direct Messaging Feature to Compete with WhatsApp
Spotify has announced the rollout of a brand-new direct messaging (DM) feature within its app, marking one of the company’s most significant updates in recent years.اضافة اعلان

This new feature allows Spotify users to share songs, podcasts, and audiobooks, and chat with friends and family—without needing third-party messaging apps. It will be available in select markets for both free and premium users, aged 16 and older, and on mobile devices only.

According to Spotify, the DMs will function through one-on-one chats where users can exchange content along with text and emoji reactions. A user can start a conversation by tapping the share icon while listening and selecting a friend to send the message to.

Users will have the ability to accept or decline message requests and will maintain full control over conversations.

The company emphasized that all conversations will be encrypted to industry standards, but will be monitored for illegal or harmful content.

Spotify believes this move will help transform the app into a more social space, expanding beyond listening to enable richer interaction around music and audio content.
