Snapchat Launches “Infinite Retention” Feature for Permanent Message Saving
On Saturday, Snapchat introduced two new features that it described as being “highly requested” by its users.

The first feature, called “Infinite Retention,” allows users to keep a permanent record of their conversations—similar to traditional messaging apps—preventing messages from disappearing.اضافة اعلان

In a statement, Snap said: “We’ve often heard from our community that Snapchat users want the ability to save their conversations forever.”

The company had been testing this feature since 2024, and it is now rolling out more broadly, according to a report by technology news site Engadget.

Previously, users were able to save messages by tapping on them within a conversation, but this new feature simplifies the process. It comes as a setting that users can enable or disable for each conversation.

When the setting is enabled, the other person in the chat will be notified and can choose to turn it off if they wish. For example, a user could activate Infinite Retention with a close friend while keeping it disabled for acquaintances.

In addition, Snapchat is introducing “Group Streaks,” a new feature that lets users contribute to a streak collectively with their friends.

Streaks on Snapchat represent the number of consecutive days two friends exchange snaps (photos or videos) on the platform. Until now, this feature was limited to one-on-one exchanges.

With Group Streaks, multiple users can participate in a single streak, which will continue as long as most members keep contributing.
