According to ZDNet, Google’s cybersecurity experts discovered 107 security vulnerabilities in early December within the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). These flaws affected all versions of the operating system from Android 13 through Android 16. On December 5, Google announced new updates to address these issues.
Experts quoted by the outlet explained that several of these vulnerabilities are severe, noting that two of them—CVE-2025-48633 and CVE-2025-48572—were classified as highly critical. The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) was also notified of these vulnerabilities. For this reason, Google and cybersecurity specialists are urging Android users to download and install the latest security patch as soon as possible.
ZDNet specialists added that severe security flaws typically affect the Android system kernel. According to cybersecurity experts, hackers can exploit such vulnerabilities to break into victims’ phones, gain elevated privileges within the device’s operating system, gain control over the device, or access its data.
