OpenAI has launched an innovative feature called Pulse within its ChatGPT program, designed to collect specific user information during the night.

This step aligns with the company’s vision of transforming ChatGPT from a tool that merely answers queries into a smart assistant that interacts with users proactively.
The Pulse feature relies on multiple data sources, including previous conversation history, user feedback, and information from integrated applications such as calendars. Users can also provide input regarding the data collected, aiming to improve accuracy and personalization.
The feature works through interactive cards displayed to users, which they can click on to access additional details. These cards may include information about upcoming meetings, suggestions for organizing schedules, or trips recorded in the calendar.
OpenAI stressed that the purpose of Pulse is not to increase the time users spend inside the app; updates will only be available for the current day unless saved. For now, the feature is available exclusively to ChatGPT Plus paid subscribers.
The company indicated that the feature will evolve in the future based on user interactions and could represent a new model for AI system usage.
It stated: “Pulse is the first step toward a new paradigm of interaction with AI systems. By integrating conversation, memory, and connected apps, ChatGPT becomes a smart assistant capable of researching, planning, and making decisions on behalf of the user—delivering effective results even without a direct prompt.”
This feature could also present an opportunity for OpenAI to introduce ads within the app, especially since the company currently lacks a revenue model for free users amid the high costs of running the service. Reports suggest that advertisements could become a future option to boost revenues.
