The results showed that individuals who regularly skip breakfast have a 10–26% higher risk of metabolic syndrome, a cluster of disorders including obesity, high blood pressure, and elevated blood sugar and cholesterol levels. They were also more prone to slow-onset obesity and high blood sugar.

The researchers emphasized that eating breakfast regularly helps stabilize metabolism and can be a simple preventive measure against diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.

Previous studies also suggest that skipping breakfast may negatively affect brain function and increase the risk of anxiety and depression, while delaying breakfast by even one hour could raise mortality risk in older adults.

Scientists stressed that skipping breakfast is not a harmless habit but a risk factor for chronic diseases.
