Tim Curry, the actor who created some of the strangest and most delightfully outrageous villains on stage and screen — including Dr. Frank-N-Furter in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and the haughty hotel manager in "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York" — has died at the age of 80.

His longtime manager and friend, Marcia Horowitz, said Curry, who suffered a stroke in 2012 and had since used a wheelchair, died Tuesday evening at his home in Los Angeles. No cause of death was disclosed.
Curry was known for his mischievous wit, his remarkably expressive face, and his exceptional vocal range. Over the course of his career, he earned three Tony Award nominations — for "Spamalot," "My Favorite Year," and "Amadeus" — and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy in 1994.
Curry told the Associated Press in 1993: "I love playing the stranger corners of the human mind and behavior, partly because they're just a bit more interesting."
