Drug awareness lecture held in North Shoney Youth Center

AMMAN— The North Shouneh Youth Center held an awareness lecture on Thursday, about drugs and their effects on individuals and communities, and ways of fighting against them, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.اضافة اعلان

About 20 young women participated in the lecture, where the first lieutenant, Saddam Al-Qadi, from the Anti-Narcotics Department, discussed the different types of drugs, their risks, and the damage they might cause to the human neurological system. He also talked about diseases that occur from drug use.

According to Qadi, some reasons for the use of drugs include bad friends, weak religious beliefs, family disintegration, and negative usage of social media. 

To counter the reasons leading to drug use and drug use itself, Qadi called for cooperation among all establishments and emphasized the importance of families looking out for their members, and indicated the role of youth centers in supporting this idea.

Qadi additionally indicated the Anti-Narcotics Department's efforts in fighting this habit through preventative measures and highlighted the role of the Drug Enforcement Administration in rehabilitating drug users to be productive citizens in society.

The lecture stressed the community's role in countering drugs and discussed the legal means to fight drug use.
