Jordan allocates JD50m loans for agricultural projects — Hneifat

AMMAN — The Ministry of Agriculture has allocated JD100 million from the Agricultural Credit Corporation, of which JD50 million is interest-free loans to support agricultural projects for one year, starting in July 2021, according to Minister of Agriculture Khaled Al-Hneifat, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.اضافة اعلان

The minister described the amount as “unprecedented in the history of the ministry”.

Hneifat spoke of disbursing JD18 million in rural development loans for women's empowerment and youth agricultural projects this year.

He also referred to a JD50,000 seed production project, with interest-free loans to preserve our local seeds, during the launch of an entrepreneurial venture.

The minister said that the agricultural credit jumped from JD40 million to JD115 million.

Hneifat said he believed that the major challenge facing the agricultural sector is marketing.

The ministry of agriculture plans to establish a filling and cooling center for the export of grapes next year after acquiring 50 dunums of land in Al-Maddouneh area, according to Hneifat.
