CBJ extended JD506m to help SMEs last year

AMMAN — The Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) has provided JD506 million, out of JD700 million, under a program to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in response to the COVID-19 pandemic as of last December.اضافة اعلان

According to data obtained by Al-Mamlaka TV, the CBJ extended loans amounting to JD191 million to cover the salaries and wages of 93,000 workers until the end of last year. The program will run until June 2022.

According to data, a total of 5,793 applications had been approved under the program last year, amounting to JD506.56 million, or 72.4 percent of the total amount available under the program.

Loans made under the program to cover salaries and wages of employees amounted to 38 percent of the value of approved applications; approximately JD191 million, covering 93,000 workers.
