Aqaba port to continue work during Eid Al-Adha

AQABA — The Secretary-General of the AqabaSpecial Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Mahmoud Khalifat confirmed in a press statement that Aqaba's main ports will operate at full capacity during the Eid Al-Adha holiday. Work will only stop at the container port for a period of three hours — from five in the morning until eight in the morning — on the first day of the holiday.اضافة اعلان

Khalifat added in a press statement on Sunday that work in customs yard No. 4 will stop on the first day of Eid Al-Adha. Then, its work will resume on the second day of eid at full capacity. Work will continue in all the relevant departments of the ASEZA to serve the city of Aqaba and its visitors during the blessed Eid Al-Adha holiday, the statement said. 

Director General of the Aqaba Company for the Management and Operation of Ports Khaled Al-Maaytah indicated that the handling operations in the port witnessed an active movement during the first six months of 2021. He said that 860 ships with a total tonnage estimated at 7 million tonnes were received, including 960 thousand sheep, a tonne of grain, and 2 million tonnes of phosphates, potash, and fertilizers.

The passenger port also received about 45,000 passengers that traveled between the Egyptian ports of Aqaba and Nuweiba.
