Trump: ‘We Are Holding Talks’ with Iran, but It Is Not Ready to Reach an Agreement

Early Monday, Trump said that the United States is holding talks with Iran, but that Tehran is not yet ready to conclude an agreement to end the war, which has entered its third week.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, the U.S. president said: “Yes, we are talking to them. But I don’t think they are ready. However, they are getting very close,” without revealing details of the talks. He again asserted that Iran had been “devastated” by the joint U.S.-Israeli strikes.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi denied that any talks with the United States were taking place.
