In a statement, Minister of Tourism and JTB’s chairman of the board, Nayef Al-Fayez said that the Airlines’ three-a-week flight schedule to Amman is the first to directly connect the two capitals.

“The announcement of the first direct flight is a major step to boost tourism, as American travelers will be encouraged to book trips to the Kingdom,” Fayez said.

JTB managing director, Abdul Razzaq Arabiyat, said that the board is looking forward to welcoming United Airlines’ first flight to Amman, adding that the route will serve travelers from South American countries, and from states that are not covered by current scheduled flights.

For his part, United Airlines’ senior vice president of international network and alliances, Patrick Quayle, said: “We are excited to announce the first ever nonstop service between Amman and Washington, DC, and are looking forward to the full recovery of international travel as we continue to leverage our leading global network in new, exciting ways.”
