UNDP, Norway launch community network project

AMMAN — Norway and the UNDP on Wednesday launched a project in Dhiban municipality to connect national decision makers with local officials and communities.اضافة اعلان

The project, called “Network of Local Governments,” will target 60 municipalities in 6 governorates, including Irbid, Ajloun, Balqa, Aqaba, and Tafileh, according to a statement from UNDP, which added that the project aims to create a platform to promote consultation and participation.

The launch included opening the first multi-purpose room in Dhiban to host physical and virtual dialogue between decision-makers and representatives from the community, including youth, women, and civil society organizations.

The launch was attended by the governor of Madaba, Ali Al Madi, ambassador of Norway to Jordan, Tone Allers, UNDP resident representative Jordan Sara Ferrer Olivella, deputy resident representative Majida Al-Assaf, members of Madaba’s Governorate Senate, representatives from the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Local Administration, Dhiban Municipality and a group of youth and civil society organizations.

Ali Al-Madi, the governor of Madaba opened the launch by stating that, “We are pleased with this collaboration with the Royal Norwegian Embassy and UNDP Jordan, as this present a valuable support to the community. This is a great achievement, and I am happy that the project kicks off is from Dhiban.”
