Trade with China up 60% — envoy

AMMAN — Republic of China Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Jordan Chen Chuandong emphasized the strong ties between the two countries, and expressed optimism that Jordan would proceed with the reform process and formulate an updated road map in the public sector, under the guidance of His Majesty King Abdullah, Al-Ghad News reported.اضافة اعلان

During a visit to Al-Ghad News headquarters, where he met with the Editor-in-Chief, Makram Tarawneh, the ambassador said that trade between the two countries has risen by 60 percent in the first half of this year, to $3.2 billion, compared with $2 billion over the same period last year.

The ambassador said that trade between the two countries reached $4.4 billion last year, rising from $3.6 billion in 2020, and stressed the need to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries and increase Chinese investment in Jordan.

The envoy added that Jordan is moving forward with radical transformations, which depend on manpower, and stressed the Kingdom’s role in hosting refugees from various neighboring countries that have experienced crises in recent times, in addition to its role in the Palestinian issue and in reviving peace talks.

He said that the Jordanian-Chinese relations are strong, but they need to be further strengthened due to the challenges posed by the pandemic, which have affected the scale of trade between the two sides.
