Senate speaker meets Azerbaijani PM in Baku

mman, July 1 (Petra)-- Senate Speaker Faisal Al-Fayez met with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov and discussed bilateral ties, as well as the latest developments in the Middle East region.اضافة اعلان

Al-Fayez is taking part taking part at the Baku Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, which is currently being held in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku.

During the meeting, which was attended by Jordan’s Ambassador in Baku, Sami Ghosheh, Al-Fayez described the Jordanian-Azeri ties as "distinguished" and based on mutual respect and common interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.

He stressed the importance of activating bilateral agreements between Amman and Baku, calling for Azeri businessmen to invest in Jordan due to its safe and spurring environment.

Commenting on regional developments, Al-Fayez said Jordan is facing severe challenges including hosting large numbers of Syrian refugees, adding that the most dangerous issue is the militias which are affiliated to regional counties on the Kingdom’s northern borders.

The Palestinian people is suffering from the longest occupation in the history of humanity, Al-Fayez said during the meeting with the Azeri prime minister.

For his part, Asadov praised Jordan’s role in helping Syrian refugees and His Majesty King Abdullah’s role in restoring security and stability in the Middle East region.
