According to Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Majed bin Mohammad Al-Ansari, the country supports all initiatives aimed at achieving comprehensive peace in Syria, and all Arab and international efforts in this regard, a local media outlet reported.

Need for Arab leadership
The statement confirmed that Qatar's position on the Syrian crisis is based on two key determinants. The first is that the Syrian government should meet the aspirations of the Syrian people in the political solution and the Geneva Statement, and the second is the Arab consensus on these actions.
"We as Arabs should lead the dialogue table because Syria is an Arab country, and the repercussions of the crisis affect us more than others."
Jordan's Foreign Minister, Ayman Al-Safadi, emphasized the need for Arab leadership in resolving the Syrian crisis, stating that "We as Arabs should lead the dialogue table because Syria is an Arab country, and the repercussions of the crisis affect us more than others."

Arab rapprochement with Damascus
Political sources say that Jordan has proposed several ideas for a solution to the Syrian government in recent months and weeks, which has been translated practically into what can be called an Arab rapprochement with Damascus and a gradual and conditional return of relations.

This is driven by the humanitarian catastrophe that resulted from the earthquake that struck Syria and Turkey and the Arab solidarity campaign and aid that followed.

The initiative aims to provide economic assistance, lift sanctions, start reconstruction, and engage in a democratic political process

According to sources, the main features of the initiative are based on providing the international community with economic assistance to Syria, gradually lifting sanctions, starting the reconstruction process, and announcing a major operation to release detainees and prisoners.

The initiative also emphasizes the need for serious engagement in a democratic political process based on conducting comprehensive elections.
