The Public Security Directorate has clarified the circumstances and details surrounding an assault on a 13-year-old boy with a sharp object in Amman.
The PSD spokesperson said that on Monday, October 12, 2026, the North Amman Police Directorate received a report that a 13-year-old boy had been physically assaulted with a sharp object by unidentified individuals. He was taken to hospital for treatment and was reported to be in good health.
During questioning, the boy said that the person who assaulted him had arrived with a minibus driver who was contracted by his family to transport him and his classmates to and from school.
According to the boy, on the day of the incident, after he and his classmates boarded the minibus, the driver changed direction instead of taking them home and headed toward the Tareq area, claiming that the vehicle needed to be repaired. When the boy attempted to escape, the driver chased him and assaulted him with a sharp object.
The spokesperson said police identified the attacker and found that he had a criminal record. Officers located and raided his whereabouts and arrested him. He was also found to have sustained facial injuries.
The suspect claimed that during the altercation, the boy had taken a piece of metal that he was carrying and attacked him with it.
Police also arrested the other man who had regularly transported the students. Both suspects were referred to the judiciary and remanded in a correction and rehabilitation center.
