PM, CDC discuss cooperation

AMMAN — Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh discussed with a delegation from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) potential areas of collaboration between Jordanian health institutions and the US federal agency, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.اضافة اعلان

Khasawneh highlighted in Sunday’s meeting the mandate of the Jordanian National Center for Epidemiology and Communicable Diseases Control (JCDC). He said the body works to improve public health by preventing epidemics and communicable diseases and taking the necessary steps to prevent their spread and mitigate their effects.

The premier stated that the center was established under Royal directives, emphasizing the government’s support for the center, which compares to other health institutions in developed countries.

The visiting delegation expressed its desire for increased future cooperation and knowledge sharing.

The CDC is the national public health agency in the US, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. It operates under the Department of Health and Human Services, and its role was most recently visible during the COVID-19 pandemic.
