The majority were headed to the north of Jordan, he said, according to Khaberni.

Since the start of the year, around 45,000 people have registered in the program, which aims to promote domestic tourism, despite the winter’s cold weather, he said.

The director added that the minister of tourism issued directives to include the private sector in the program’s activities and organize journeys in ways that support local communities and associations.

Kudair stressed that the large tourist turnout in Jordan’s north has enhanced the economy and rejuvenated trade activity.
