AMMAN — Jordan's new national e-billing system can issue 60 million invoices per day, said Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Ahmed Hanandeh.اضافة اعلان

The platform, he said, offers security and information protection that is on par with what is applied in international systems.

These statements came during a symposium organized by the Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) on Thursday, reported the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

Hanandeh said that the new system is "simple and user-friendly", emphasizing that it went through all the necessary technical tests to ensure it's "suitable for use without any obstacles".

Director-general of the Income and Sales Tax Department, Hossam Abu Ali, said that small merchants and craftspeople are not required to use the invoicing system.

He added that ad hoc teams would be formed to help onboard all beneficiary sectors included in the new system.

Sectors included will also be given sufficient time to address any challenges with the new e-billing system, he said.

Meanwhile, ACC head, Khalil Haj Tawfiq, said that while some system-related reservations have been voiced by Jordanian commerce chambers' leaders, sector representatives, and trade union chiefs, the platform requires patience in its implementation and giving beneficiaries a trial period.

To ensure its proper implementation, he stressed the need to raise awareness about the system's work mechanism by issuing explanatory leaflets and videos and holding dialogues with stakeholders to avoid any mishaps or negative outcomes in the future.
