World Children’s Day aims “to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children's welfare”, according to the UN website.

In its statement, the labor ministry said child labor violates children’s rights; since it affects their physical, mental, and social wellness and deprives them of pursuing their education. It stressed the importance of national and international cooperation to counter the problem and address its repercussions on children and their families.

The ministry urged employers to abstain from hiring children below the legal age, calling on families to consider the risks that children may encounter as a result of depriving them of their basic rights; including protection, and education.
