Jordanian detained after selling kidney for JD17,000

AMMAN — A Jordanian man was detained for 15 days after selling his kidney for JD17,000, according to a local news outlet.اضافة اعلان

The Russeifa Public Prosecutor decided to detain the man for 15 days, subject to renewal and pending investigations, on the charge of removing organs in accordance with the Human Trafficking Law.

Nephrectomy in TurkeyThe man offered to sell his kidney for JD17,000 to pay off debts via a social media page that specializes in the sale of organs in Turkey, sources told local news outlets.

The page is managed from outside Jordan and the man received an offer from a Syrian national who resides in Turkey. He then went to Turkey and underwent a nephrectomy in a hospital there.

The Public Security Directorate’s Cybercrime Unit tracked down the Jordanian, arrested him and referred him to the Public Prosecutor.
